Barnesville PTA Holds First Clothing Drive
When Belmont County announced the loss of the back-to-school vouchers this summer, Barnesville PTA Vice President Victoria Westfall had an idea. Westfall’s vision was to hold a clothing drive where Barnesville area residents could donate gently used or new clothing, shoes, new socks and underwear, coats, school supplies, and hygiene products.
Westfall shared that 120 children and 50 adults were clothed through the community’s generosity. The leftovers went to others in need and to a church. The remaining sweatshirts went to Hickory Psychiatric Hospital.
Every person who attended was entered into a raffle. There were gift baskets as well as haircut certificates among the prizes.
