John “Johnny” Baker

John “Johnny” Baker, 93, of Lewisville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born near Lewisville, Ohio on August 8, 1931, a son of the late Charles and Mary Mallett Baker.

In 1958 John founded Baker and Sons Equipment, Lewisville, Ohio where he still served as CEO; a member of Stafford United Methodist Church, Stafford, Ohio; a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict; a 75 year member of Stafford Lodge 300 F.&A.M.; member of the American Legion Post 87and VFW Post 5303 both of Woodsfield, Ohio; a member of the Aladdin Shrine Temple, Columbus, Ohio; founding member of the Lewisville Volunteer Fire Department; a member of the Friendship Cemetery Board; former president of Farm and Power Equipment Dealers Association; member of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the 2015 Citizen of the Year; was also honored and awarded the 2024 Chaddock Philanthropists award for giving; honorary member of the Monroe County Fair Board; Massey Ferguson United States Dealers Council; was instrumental in establishing the Foundation of Scholarships in Monroe County; an avid fan of the former Skyvue Hawks and avid fan of the Monroe Central Seminoles. John was also instrumental in the building of the new fire house in Lewisville, Ohio and doing other projects in the county.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois J. Ackerman Baker on February 7, 2022; a son, Gregory Scott Baker on November 20, 2011, and a sister, Jean Gilmore.

Surviving are one daughter, Rhonda (Kevin) Marshall of Lewisville, Ohio; one son, Steve Baker and his companion Vickie Kindle of Graysville, Ohio; a daughter–in-law, Chris Baker of Lewisville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Chad Baker and his companion, Ashley Armann, Nikki (Jeremy) Lude, Cody (Josh) Booher, Scott Marshall, Casey (Gus) Lohrey; eleven great-grandchildren, Brayden Brantley and Brissa Baker; Harper, Jack and Sadie Booher; Greer and Blain Lude; Mia, Maylee, and Slade Lohrey.

Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday March 9, 2025, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, with Rusty Atkinson officiating.

Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, Ohio where military graveside services will also be held.
