Former Union Local High student athlete Liam Vinskovich captured the ‘24-‘25 MAC (Mid- American Conference Champion High Jumper contest.
Indoor Track
At the D3/D4 Ohio Association of Track and Cross County Coaches 2025 Indoor State Championship Meet at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva Connor Bendo placed 8th in 1600 M competition.
Two Jets Place in State Wrestling Tournament
In Ohio State Wrestling Tournament action Friday and Saturday one Union Local wrestlers advanced to the quarterfinals.
Gunnar Gossett (144 pounds) won by a technical decision Friday night. Gosset won Saturday morning in the Quarterfinal round and moves forward to semifinal competition.
Later that day, Gossett advanced with a second win moving on to Sunday’s championship match.
Gossett lost the crown match in a close decision to Lima Central Catholic’s Jordan Neal.
Brody Perzanowski (175 pounds) won by pin Friday night. On Saturday, “lost in the Quarterfinal but wins in the blood rounds to secure his place as a top 8 placer”.
Perzanowski won in the consolation round Saturday by a pin moving into Sunday.
Sunday morning, Perzanowski squared off against Barnesville’s Hines Ford. Ford took the match 2-1 and ending in 6th place for Division III in the 175 pound weight class.
He has now placed in state competitions two times.

Lady Jets achieving All-Eastern District Honors include
- Laken Vinskovich, 1st Team
- Ella Pietranton, 2nd Team
- Delaney Butler, Honorable Mention
Meanwhile, Jets Girls Coach Lou “Scooter” Tolzda was named “Coach of the Year”
These awards are voted on by the Eastern District Sports Media
Spring Meet the Teams – March 10
Spring teams for the district will be featured at a Meet the Teams event, Monday, March 10 at 6:30. The event will take place in the high school gym.
UL Baseball Team Building Fundraiser
The Union Local School District is reaching out to the community to raise funds to purchase a building for use by the baseball program. The additional space will house equipment, provide training space and create a hub for team development and community connection.
