Barnesville VFD Fundraiser

A mailer distributed to area postal customers recently announced a Special $25,000 Fundraiser to benefit the Barnesville Volunteer Fire Department.

As most resident are aware, the group provides fire coverages for the village of Barnesville, as well as Warren, Kirkwood and Flushing townships, but are not aware of just how much time is spent each month by the volunteers.

In the recent month of July, for example, the department handled five accidents and responded to three fire calls in addition to the 80 emergency squad runs.

Funds raised in the special drive will “be used to update existing equipment and purchase new equipment” to improve service to the community and keep firefighters safe and to protect the community.

The fundraising plea asks for tax deductible donations of $35, $50, $75, $100, $250, $300 or $500 in checks payable to Barnesville Volunteer Fire Department.

A special offer to donors is each “will receive a lasting gift of an 8×10 family portrait by Superior Portraits” at the station at 125 E. Church Street on Sunday, October 25. Those taking advantage of the offer must call for an appointment.

Additional information or questions on the fundraising campaign should be directed to the department’s non-emergency number 740-359-7025.
