Shamrock Volleyball Weekly Recap
The week of September 14th was busy for the Lady Rocks, with play on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
On Monday, September 14, the Barnesville Shamrocks faced the Cambridge Bobcats at home. The Varsity team won 3-1, with scores of 25-16, 18-25, 25-14, and 25-10. After this contest, the team was 6-4 for the season.
The junior high teams traveled to Cambridge. The 7th Grade won in 2 sets, with scores of 25-18 and 26-24. The 8th Graders won in two as well, with scores of 25-8 and 25-20.
On Tuesday, the Barnesville Junior High teams hosted Shenandoah at home. Unfortunately, the 7th Grade lost in 3 sets, dropping them to 8-2 for the season. However, the 8th Grade won in 2 sets, with scores of 25-15 and 25-22. This made the 8th Grade team’s season record 9-1.
The Junior Varsity and Varsity Lady Rocks shared their home court with the Monroe Central Noles on Wednesday night. The Junior Varsity remained undefeated after winning in 2 sets, with scores of 25-22 and 25-19. The Varsity lost in 3 close sets, 22-25, 21-25, and 19-25.
The junior high teams played St. Clairsville at home the same evening. Both won in 2 sets. The 7th Grade team’s scores were 25-20 and 25-21, finishing the week with a 9-2 record. Similarly, the 8th grade team’s scores were 25-20 and 25-23, improving its record to 10-1 for the season.
On Saturday, Barnesville’s Junior Varsity and Varsity teams traveled to St. Clairsville. The Junior Varsity lost its first match of the season, with scores of 20-25 and 20-25. The team’s record is now 9-1. The Varsity also lost a very competitive 4-set match, with scores of 20-25, 26-24, 16-25, and 21-25.
Next week’s schedule starts on Monday, September 21, with JV/Varsity at home against Martins Ferry, and the junior high teams travel to Martins Ferry for their matches. Tuesday, the junior high hosts Harding. The week finishes with all four teams headed to Bellaire on Thursday night.
