Local Attorney Named Partner at Taft Law

Aaron Bruggeman  

Barnesville native and local attorney Aaron Bruggeman recently accepted the position of Partner of the Taft Law firm’s Dayton, Ohio Office.

Aaron is a partner in Taft’s Litigation and Energy groups. He has extensive experience throughout Ohio and West Virginia on various issues related to the development of the Marcellus and Utica Shale region. Aaron’s practice focuses primarily on oil and gas pipeline litigation, oil and gas lease/ownership litigation and other energy-specific transactional matters involved in project development. He has served as counsel for national and international energy companies and energy generation facilities on multiple projects throughout Ohio. Prior to joining the firm, Aaron worked at a regional firm primarily in Southeast Ohio as a member of the energy and natural resources team with a focus on Ohio Dormant Minerals Act and Ohio Marketable Title Act litigation and related matters.

In addition to his wide-reaching energy practice, Aaron also has considerable experience in general commercial litigation in both Ohio and West Virginia, including, but not limited to, insurance bad faith cases, real property-related cases, and personal injury-related cases. Because of the unique nature of his oil and gas practice, Aaron also has significant experience in Ohio transactional real estate matters.

Aaron earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Capital University Law School and his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in political science from Ohio University. As a member of the Capital University Law Review, he was rewarded as the Roberta Mitchell Staff Member of the Year in 2010, and his note published in 2011 entitled Superintendence Rule 48: Standardizing the Guardian Ad Litem System in Ohio Courts. 

Bruggemen received the Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 & Under from the Ohio State Bar Foundation in 2022 and was honored as Ohio “Super Lawyers, Rising Stars, Energy & Natural Resources (2020-2021)    

During his 13 years practicing law on East Main Street in Barnesville, the 2004 BHS graduate served the community as Barnesville Rotary President and Barnesville Chamber President as well as a board member for Barnesville Hospital and on the Barnesville School Board.
