Allen R. Eschbaugh

Allen R. Eschbaugh, 93, of Salesville, Ohio went home to meet the Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Allen was born on October 18, 1932, in Batesville, a son to the late Clarence J. and Leona (Carpenter) Eschbaugh.

Allen was a 1951 graduate of Quaker City High School. Upon graduating, Allen enrolled in the Army National Guard where he proudly served for eight years. He retired from LDM plastics where he worked as a line worker. Allen was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sonja Jane (McGlumphy) Eschbaugh, whom he married on July 7, 1956, and she passed away on April 25, 2021; an infant son; five brothers, Robert, Richard, William, Harold, Charles and a sister, Marie Allman and a great-granddaughter, Elle Messenger.

Allen is survived by his daughters, Susan (Gary) Haenisch of Cambridge and Kathy (Danny) Messenger of Barnesville; one son Jeff (Donna) Eschbaugh of Salesville; and his sister, Mary Carpenter of Barnesville.

Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren; Ben (Becky Pittman) Messenger, Jessie (Jerry) Carpenter, Joe (Lisa) Urdak, Amanda (Ryon) Eddy, Michael (Letisha) Messenger, Adam (Sammi) Messenger, Emily (Heath) Kennedy, Tyler (Mackenzie) Eschbaugh, Justin (Jolene) King, Jason (Kierstin) King and Jessica King.

His great-grandchildren, Logan, Garrett and Cole Eddy, Elijah and Blake Messenger. Leanna, Lane Messenger, Bradli, Maxx, Dru Messenger, Devan (Isaac) Holder, Nick Urdak, Abby, Avary and Uriah Kennedy, Maddie, Mollie Carpenter, Ivy King, Sadey King, Finley King, Satreyia and Bentley King, Mavis Eschbaugh, many nieces and nephews; and his cat Walter.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 4PM-8PM with the funeral service the following day, Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11AM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Quaker City with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Salesville Methodist Episcopal Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
