Barnesville Police Log Returns!

Thanks to a volunteer for Barnesville Area News, the Barnesville Police Log returns this week after an absence of seven years.

Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log March 3 through March 8 are reported below.  

March 3, 2025

10:57 am – Caller reports a green Ford Ranger being driven recklessly heading into town near Emerald Pointe. The driver almost hit another vehicle head on then turned onto Roosevelt. The vehicle displays a handicap sticker.

10:58 am – West Church Street, traffic stop, warning given for turn signal.

12:13 pm – Complaint at station to report she dropped her work debit card at Family Dollar yesterday. A review of the store’s security tape revealed a male customer that was behind her picked it up.

9:05 pm – Traffic stop on S. Leatherwood Road at County Road 120. Warning issued for reckless driving.

9:14 pm – Traffic stop on Gobblers Knob. Written warning issued for loud exhaust.

9:17 pm – Caller on South Broadway reports a “crotch rocket” motorcycle is traveling north at a high rate of speed.

11:49 pm – Traffic stop on Route 800 South at Burkhart Road. Written warning issued for marked lanes violation.

March 4, 2025

3:41 am – Traffic stop at bottom of Barnesville Hill on Route 800. Driver of super duty Ford truck issued a warning for speed. 

7:54 pm – Traffic stop at Fairyland. Warning issued for improper display.

8:53 pm – Traffic stop on Railroad Street.

9:32 pm – Traffic stop at Convenient Food Mart.

10:10 pm – Traffic stop on Morgantown Avenue for corrected plate. Citation issued to driver for “driving under suspension”.

11:11 pm – Traffic stop on Burkhart Road. Warning issued for improper display.

11:53 pm – Traffic stop on Gobblers Knob. Citation issued for “driving under suspension.”

March 5, 2025

5:40 pm – 911 hangup call reported by Central Dispatch on Michelli Drive. Contacted Emerald Pointe personnel who reported that everything is ok. Officer will check in person.

5:42 pm – Traffic stop on Railroad Drive. Warning issued for stop sign.

6:55 pm – Alarm drop at West Main Street business. Doors unlocked. Owner contacted who is on the way to lock up.

11:22 pm – Complainant at station to file a report indicating individuals are stealing his information. The person believes it might be the police, a brother or another family member.

March 6, 2025

8:30 am – Caller from Johnson Ridge advises someone has been getting into his mailbox. Advised to contact Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.

8:35 am – Traffic stop initiated on East Main Street near WesBanco.

5:30 pm – Central Dispatch (911) advises to be on the lookout for a purple Honda Accord, coming up Leatherwood Road that appears to be falling asleep at the wheel.

8:25 pm – Investigate complaint from Barnesville Hospital Emergency Room. Personnel reports they have an unruly patient and would like an officer on the scene. On scene, officer reports patient is calming down.

March 7, 2025

3:32 pm – Investigate complaint on Fairview Road. Caller reports male driver parked sideways in the road past the hospital. The caller approached and the driver moved out of the road closer to an embankment. Driver reported to be unresponsive.

EMS called as well as State Patrol. The driver was transported to ER and the Patrol ordered the vehicle towed.     

8:17 pm – Traffic stop on Pine Lane. Warning issued for turn signal.

9:29 pm – Traffic stop on Gobbers Knob. Warning issued for improper display.

10:16 pm – Traffic stop on South Chestnut Street. 

10:41 pm – Traffic stop on South Chestnut Street at Crestview Cemetery. Warning issued for improper display.

March 8, 2025

7:25 pm – Traffic stop on Captina Drive. Stop sign warning issued. 

8:05 pm – Traffic stop on South Lincoln Avenue. Warning was issued for driving the wrong way on one way street and driving without headlights on. The driver appears to be lost.

10:10 pm – Traffic stop on Burkhart Road. Warning issued for driving left of center.
