Barnesville Chamber News – May 30, 2024

Baskets are Up, Flags too. Village employees recently hung downtown flower baskets and position American Flags on the downtown flag poles in advance of Memorial Day and the summer season. Roger Deal, village administrator, shared the good news with village council members at the May 20 meeting.

There is still time to add your business, family or organization’s name to the list of sponsors for the

Downtown Flower Basket Project

For the 11th season, flowers will soon brighten up Downtown Barnesville as the beautiful creations of the Fruits of Life Nursery will hang from downtown’s decorative streetlamps.

The cost is $150 per basket. Baskets may be sponsored by businesses, organizations and individuals. Donations may also be made in memory of or in honor of others. The cost includes planting, watering, fertilizing and maintenance of the baskets for the next four months. Barnesville village crews hang and remove the baskets each year. The feeding and watering take a minimum of four hours each time and up to three or four times weekly.

Those who wish to participate may pay for baskets by filing out a form and dropping it off with payment, checks payable to “Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce – Flower Basket Fund” at the Barnesville Chamber Office, 130 West Main Street, or Avenues of Barnesville, 132 East Main Street.

Chamber office hours are 9:00 – 3:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday while Avenues of Barnesville is open 10:00-5:00 Tuesday through Friday and Saturday from 10:00 – 2:00. Questions, please contact Jill Hissom at the Chamber office at (740) 425-4300 or basket project coordinator Susan Lapham at (740) 425-1453.
