The Shamrocks open the 2025 season looking to build on last year’s 22-8 record and appearance in the Regional Tournament. DJ Butler enters his 19th season as the Shamrocks head coach. Heading into this season Butler has compiled a record of 256-155 (.623) at Barnesville. His overall coaching record of 310-188 (.622) includes his tenure as head coach at the former Jewett Scio.
Assisting Butler is Bryce Allen, Cade Hannahs, Jeff Miller, Brady Treherne, Joel Atkinson and Zach Thompson.
The 2025 Shamrock includes 10 lettermen from last year’s squad. The 2025 roster includes:
Seniors: Camden Carpenter, Casey Carpenter, Kole Carpenter, Marshall Meade, Caleb Powell,

Juniors: Jack Anderson, Dylan Blon, Keegan Martin, Max Miller

Monday, March 31
Barnesville – 9, Union Local – 8
The Shamrocks defeated Union Local 9-8 in dramatic come from behind fashion at home Monday. The Shamrocks trailed 7-0 after two innings but battled back to tie the game at 8 to 8 in the 7th. With two outs Marshall Meade stepped to the plate and scored a clutch walk off RBI single to end the game.
The Shamrocks used a trio of pitchers in the win. Marshall Meade started the first two innings striking out two and walking two. Cam Carpenter provided relief of Meade pitching four innings and striking out three. Keegan Martin (1-0) pitched a scoreless 7th striking out one to earn the victory.
Offensively, the Shamrocks collected nine hits. They were led at the plate by Blake Burkhart (1 rbi) with 2 hits. Max Miller (2 RBI), Marshall Meade (3 RBI), Dylan Blon (1 RBI), Caleb Powell (1 RBI), Casey Carpenter, Caden Sellers, and Jack Anderson each contributed a hit apiece.
The victory raises the Rox record to 1-0 on the season.
The Shamrocks Junior Varsity team lost 4-3 Monday night in extra innings against Union Local.
The loss starts their record to 0-1 on the season.
Tuesday, April 1
Barnesville – 9, River – 7
The Shamrocks picked up their second win of the season tonight by defeating River 9-7 at home.
Parker Sobutka (1-0) earned his first career varsity mound win by starting and going four solid innings. Sobutka struck out five Pilots. Blake Burkhart pitched the final three frames striking out two batters to earn the save.
Offensively, the ‘Rox managed six hits. Brayden Watters, Marshall Meade (2 RBI), Caleb Powell (1 RBI), Blake Burkhart (3 RBI), Parker Sobutka (1 RBI), and Keegan Martin (1 RBI) each contributed a hit to the cause.
The victory raises the Rox record to 2-0 on the season. They will return to action on the road at Union Local on Wednesday. First pitch 5pm.
Wednesday, April 3
Barnesville – 21, Union Local – 4
The Shamrocks won their third game in a row tonight by defeating Union Local 21-4 on the road in 5 innings.
Dylan Blon started and pitched four innings striking out six Jets and only allowing one walk.
Keegan Martin pitched a scoreless 5th inning to secure the victory.
Offensively, the Shamrocks exploded for 12 hits. Caleb Powell (3RBI) led the way at the plate with 3 hits. Blake Burkhart (2 RBI) and Caden Sellers (2 RBI) each contributed 2 hits. Max Miller (3 RBI), Brayden Watters (1 RBI), Marshall Meade, Dylan Blon (2 RBI), and Parker Sobutka (3 RBI) each added a hit apiece. Casey Carpenter contributed 2 RBI and Jack Anderson contributed 1 RBI.
The Junior Varsity team defeated Union Local 9-7 in come from behind fashion at home tonight.
The victory raises their record to 1-1 on the season.
Friday games were canceled/postponed due to weather conditions.
