Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack
March 18 Meeting. Sheriff James Zusack was introduced to members by David Mayberry at the club meeting. Known by Barnesville Rotary members as a helper for our annual Rotary Marlin Harper Special Olympics Fishing Tournament each year, Sheriff Zusack gave members an overview of his life’s path. He grew up in Maynard, graduating from St. Clairsville High School in 1987, noting that becoming Belmont County Sheriff was “a humbling experience”.
In 34 years with the Sheriff’s department he has been involved with the Sex Offender team, training duties; was a 17-year member of the Belmont County Special Operations Branch; involved with Project Lifesaver Program and Safety Camp for Kids. His office does Active Shooter Instruction around the county as a public service, and he is a promoter of resource officers in all schools for protection and promoting a respectful relationship with the students and community.
Sheriff Zusack feels he is “here to protect and serve, with the good Lord’s help.” He has always just wanted to “help people” and encourages anyone needing their help to contact the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.
