Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log March 24 through March 30 are reported below.

Monday, March 24, 2025

07:45 am – investigate complaint, welfare check at Wiley Avenue. Caller states she has messages from female saying she does not feel safe. She advised she had verbal argument about two hours ago and man has left now. She is leaving to go stay with somewhere else for now.

10:12 am – investigate complaint, Ohio Street person called advising two males walked into her house. They said they were there to haul a refrigerator away but were at the wrong address. They said a person was looking for someone to haul a fridge away. They left as soon as they were told to do so.

12:15 pm – traffic stop, Dairy Queen parking lot, citation was issued.

12:30 pm – Male caller wanting to talk with the supervisor in reference to case against him. Male was upset and left a note for the officer.

12:35 pm – Caller states telephone or cable line down at West Main Street, Unknown just where. Comcast notified.

1:23 pm – Investigate complaint, South Gardner Street. Caller says vehicle sitting in the same spot for a month and a half.

1:26 pm – Male called about fingerprints. Stated he got his BCI prints done here but now needs FBI prints done. Explained that he would have to contact fast fingerprints.

1:37 pm – investigate complaint on follow up with reference to parked car on South Gardner Street. Person states the car is driven from time to time.

2:22 pm – investigate complainant at station wanting to speak with an officer. Is filling out a report in reference to fraud/theft.

3:41 pm – investigate complaint, Vine Street, advised of a cable line down in the area. Called Comcast and advised.

5:22 pm – Reference to previous call. Person on Ohio Street had a refrigerator for sale. Stated the person let the men into her residence that they didn’t just walk in.

5:46 pm – follow up investigation, Chestnut Ridge Road, active warrant, one male detained. Spoke to three parties involved in the incident and got information for report. Transporting one male to Belmont County Jail.

7:47pm – Central Dispatch (911) received call from a driver advising could smell an odor of gas when turning onto East Main Street off of 800. Central toning out Station  12 Fire and EMS.  

9:47 pm – officer out regarding disabled vehicle on Railroad Street. Needing Triple A or towing company called.

11:35 pm – traffic stop, State Route 800 at North Ballfield, consent to search given negative results on search.

Tuesday, March 25, 2025

3:29 am – investigate complaint, North Chestnut Street, reckless driving, clear.

5:45 am – vehicle lockout, South Chestnut Street, unlocked and cleared.

2:31 pm – complainant at station filing report in reference to someone cutting off a lock on one of the storage rentals.

3:15 pm – spoke with person regarding Ohio Street refrigerator matter. She advised she no longer wants to pursue charges. The prosecutor’s office sent an email that no charges was filed after the matter was reviewed. Spoke with the person who said they just wanted the incident on file.

4:14 pm – person at station in reference to a pothole in the alley by his house. Advised to contact the village administrator. He advised he already did and nothing was done. Administrator said it was taken care of day of the first complaint.

6:46 pm – traffic stop, Mulberry Street, clear from stop and had consent to search, negative result.

8:12 pm – Morgantown Avenue, caller advised her daughter, and her boyfriend are coming to pick up belongings that were placed in the yard for pick up. She asked for an officer to stand by while items were retrieved due to previous threats. When asked if complaints were previously filed, negative. Caller advised officers would be notified but it would be best to stay inside when items are collected. Since items are outside there shouldn’t be any contact. Call if there are any problems and officer will respond if needed.

8:55 pm – traffic stop, East Main Street, warning given for exhaust.

9:46 pm – traffic stop, East South Street, no visible plate.

Wednesday, March 26, 2025

8:48 am – investigate complaint, Wiley Avenue, person called requesting an officer in reference to a person refusing to leave the residence. Caller stated party does not have residency there and has been asked to leave several times but still refuses to do so.

9:07 am – requested squad for a 9-month-old with possible infection due to a feeding tube.

2:39 pm – person on station wanting to talk to someone to get her phone back. She was advised to get a court order to obtain the phone.

3:10 pm – assisting other unit that is out assisting squad with unresponsive but breathing female.

6:10 pm – caller advised that her mother didn’t bring her child for weekly visitation who said her car was disabled and didn’t have a ride to meet up. Requested a report to be taken to court for a scheduled April 15 hearing.

8:30 pm – anonymous advised the person we are looking for is at the residence. Checked for warrant but none found on file.

8:58 pm – traffic stop, North Chestnut Sheet.

10:30 pm – caller says a woman picked up item from a table in front of The Thrift Store.  Advised items on the table are free but we would double check tomorrow and see if they only want people taking items when the store is open.

Thursday, March 27, 2025

11:10 am – Thrift Store employee states that anyone can pick up anything on the free table at any time.

1:09 pm – Caller needing EMS to transport her mother the hospital for tests. Advised this is a non-emergency. Gave public service (PS) for Station 12 (Barnesville station).

1:44 pm – investigate complaint. A person at the station reference to daughter harassment via phone. Advised that she has called 37 times today.

2:23 pm – investigate complaint, South Chestnut Street. A person at station reports a guy drinking and appears to be drunk.

5:49 pm – Barnesville Hospital called stating a female is walking around in a jail uniform but is not in custody. Female states she doesn’t want to be seen by hospital staff. Monroe County EMS called and asked to speak with an officer.

6:13 pm – caller said the female from the previous logs walked up to her asking for a lighter or match. Advised the female is now wearing black pants, black shirt and shoes that are untied.

6:17 pm – male caller reporting same female from previous logs walked onto his property and asked to use his phone. He let her and now tried to flag him down on West Main Street.

7:53 pm – investigate complaint, East Main Street McDonalds. Worker called in reporting there is a drunk driver in the drive thru. They have her pulled up and stopped. Tow truck enroute and now has vehicle.

9:33 pm – male at station with stray dog he found by Dairy Queen. Owner of the dog called and is on his way to get the dog.

Friday, March 28, 2025

3:29 am – out with OSP on Bond Avenue.

07:55 am – caller reference a deer that needs put down in the area of the well pad beyond the hospital. Transferred call to 911.

11:39 am – North Arch Street, attempted to serve abatement, negative contact.

12:20 pm – West South Street, attempted warrant.

2:53 pm – person at station reference to neighbor harassment.

4:35 pm – West Main Street caller reporting finding a child running down the street barefoot. Mother was not home and the person responsible for watching the child was asleep when the child left the house. Mother was contacted and, on her way, to pick up her child.

7:05 pm – Sycamore Street, follow up investigation, getting ticket signed.

7:26 pm – caller wants to speak with an officer about getting a paycheck to an employee.

8:17 pm – East Main Street, officer flagged down at Pit Stop. Clear, nothing important.

8:26 pm – East Main Street, accident property damage, both drivers are coming to fill out an accident report.

11:28 pm – domestic trouble, West Church Street. Female caller reporting she came to visit friend and the friend’s boyfriend is going crazy. Male had too much to drink, verbal only.

Saturday, March 29, 2025

7:24 am – investigate complaint, person at station regarding a reckless ops. It is an ongoing issue. The person lives out in the county. Advised to contact the Sheriff’s department.

11:36 am – caller asking about the drug take back box located in the municipal building.

12:00 pm – caller states that she has full custody of children, and their father is keeping her from getting them back. She states that she has full custody. She was asked where this was taking place, and she advised Waterworks Road. She was advised to contact the Sheriff’s department due to being out of our jurisdiction. She also wanted legal advice and told her that law enforcement does not get involved in custody matters or disputes. Advised she needs to contact an attorney. She asked if she could go to the house and get her children. She was advised that we can’t tell her one way or another and recommended she contact an attorney.

12:07 pm – female caller states that she has a couple questions about getting items back from boyfriend’s residence. States that she recently broke up with him and he has items. Caller was advised to contact the Sheriff’s department due to being out of jurisdiction.

12:32 pm – caller from previous call states that she is at her boyfriend’s house on Cline Road and called 911 non-emergency number but that a deputy never called back. Advised caller to try that number again.

2:25 pm – investigate complaint. Officer on Watt Avenue out at the Rocks Gym.

2:32 pm – animal call, East Walnut Street, report of a dog loose and at large. Advised animal shelter dog is possibly injured. Spoke to individuals that at first had the dog on a leash on Mulberry Street. Animal Shelter is enroute to a vet with the dog and will return the leash to Mulberry Street.

3:48 pm – warrant service, East Church Street.

4:21 pm – 911 called and advised they took a call about a vehicle but no license plate number given. Vehicle reported all over the roadway was last seen on Route 800 coming from 1-70.

6:38 pm – East Main Street caller states there is an alley that runs by his house that a male pulls in with his vehicle and unloads his mower and blocks the alleyway. Advised caller that the ordinance allows the while the person is loading or unloading for 15-20 minutes. Checked ordinance and it is 30 minutes. The problem is the driver will unload the mower and then mow which usually blocks it for one hour or more. Advised that officers will be notified. Officer states the mower is back on the trailer and is not off loaded. States that he has 30 minutes to load/unload. Will check back again. The vehicle and trailer now gone from alley.

5:31 pm – caller asking for permission to do a controlled burn. Advised to contact the fire department.

5:39 pm – South Lincoln Avenue, nature unknown. Commons parking lot for a moment.

6:42 pm – traffic stop, Cherry Street, citation issued.

7:27 pm – traffic stop, Riesbeck’s parking lot, warning issued.

10:47 pm – traffic stop, Wiley Avenue, warning given for load exhaust.

11:58 pm – South Chestnut Street, drunk male placed in cruiser.

Sunday, March 30, 2025

12:28 am – special detail, South Lincoln Avenue. Caller stated that they received a message from nephew concerning something that is wrong. Said he is just in a rough spot at the moment and didn’t want to speak to anyone at the hospital. He is now speaking with family who are on the scene. Clear.

8:44 am – East Main Street, smoke alarm activation. Spoke to homeowner. Everything is fine.

2:32 pm – officers at Jefferis Storage on railroad. Checked on an open unit and spoke to the male that was there who stated the unit has been opening the last few times he had been there.

8:57 pm – caller advised a vehicle is all over the roadway near Fairyland heading north on 800. States the driver is not maintaining speed and keeps going all over the roadway. The phone kept cutting out on call.  

9:02 pm – traffic stop, West Church Street with driver that was called in earlier referencing to vehicle all over roadway. Everything is okay.
