Timothy “Papa” Sparkman

     Timothy “Papa” Sparkman, 73, of Summerfield, Ohio passed away Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Arbors of Woodsfield, Ohio.

     He was born at Standard, West Virginia on October 31, 1951 a son of the late Paul Sparkman Sr. and Mary Mitchell Sparkman.

     Tim was a retired construction worker and a member of the Teamsters Local.

     He enjoyed playing guitar, mandolin, upright bass and singing. He also enjoyed building his log home and he most especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Tim was always willing to lend a hand, was a hard worker, master joke teller, blue grass musician and everyone’s “Rock”.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Sparkman.

     Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Pyles Sparkman, of the home; two daughters, Melanie (Wayne) Skinner of Beallsville, Ohio, Amy (Kris) Serdy of Caldwell, Ohio; two sisters, Jane Hines of Columbus, Ohio, Cheryl Dalton of Beallsville, Ohio; two brothers, Paul (Pam) Sparkman of Woodsfield, Ohio, Wayne Sparkman of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren, Steven (Darcy) Skinner, John (Melissa) Skinner, Drew (Kayla) Phillips, Katy (Dave) Phillips, Levi Phillips, Jack Serdy; seven great-grandchildren, Alli, Aubree, Avery, Jaydan, Zach, Wesley and Neal.

     Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78, Woodsfield, Ohio from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2025 where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Josh Hetrick officiating.

     Inurnment will be held at the East Sunsbury Cemetery, Beallsville, Ohio at a later date.
