‘Old Friend’ Returns

A short text message from Barnesville Village Administrator Roger Deal on Wednesday shared the good news that the iconic Barnesville Town Clock was back up and running! Early last fall the clock was removed from its pedestal for cleaning and repair work on the two opalescent glass clock faces.

From the pumpkin festival up through the holiday celebrations and beyond, the clock pedestal was unceremoniously draped with a black plastic cover minus its most important part.

Brock Roger’s original Barnesville Area News Facebook post was shared a minimum of 27 times including a repost by the Barnesville Chamber, “liked” at least 325 times and commented upon by more than two dozen individuals.

Our favorite comment was posted by Dan Gabel who shared, “It’s like the star on top of a Christmas tree!”

To paraphrase Ralphie Paker of the 1983 classic holiday movie, “The Christmas Story”, “all is right with the world!”

Stay tuned. In a few weeks we’ll share a more complete history of this famous Barnesville landmark.
