Wednesday, May 7:  Barnesville – 15, Buckeye Trail – 4

Maddy Tyson’s Power On Display As Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks Defeat Buckeye Trail

Maddy Tyson hit two home runs and drove in three as Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks defeated Buckeye Trail 15-4 on Wednesday. Tyson homered in the fifth and third innings.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the first.

Buckeye Trail jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after E Ashby singled, scoring one run, A Steward doubled, scoring two runs, and M Boylin singled, scoring one run.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Tyson hit an inside the park home run, Chae Smolira singled to center field, Sophie Carpenter singled to center field, and Lilly Welch grounded out, each scoring one run.

Six more Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 15-4. Tyson hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs, Carpenter drew a walk, scoring one run, and Kylee Powell singled, scoring three runs.

Abigail Johnson earned the win for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. The righty gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Steward took the loss for Buckeye Trail. The pitcher went four and one-third innings, surrendering 15 runs (13 earned) on 13 hits, striking out none and walking four. Peyton Loudin led things off in the circle for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. The pitcher surrendered four hits and four runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks tallied 13 hits in the game. Carpenter provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks with four runs batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Tyson, Powell, Smolira, Payton Dudzik, Johnson, and Carpenter each collected two hits for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. Smolira and Dudzik each stole multiple bases for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks stole four bases in the game. Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks turned one double play in the game.

Steward drove the middle of the lineup, leading Buckeye Trail with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. L Smith led Buckeye Trail with two hits in three at bats.

Saturday, May 10:  Barnesville – 12, St. Clairsville – 2
