Senior Caleb Powell is the recipient of a $300 scholarship award from the Ohio Valley Board of Umpires. Umpire Paul Curnes presented Caleb the check prior to Friday’s game against Brooke.
Varsity Team
Friday, May 8: Barnesville – 15, Brooke – 2
The Shamrocks defeated Brooke at home 15-2 in 5 innings.
Dylan Blon was exceptional on the mound tonight in earning the win. Blon only allowed 2 hits in 5 innings. He struck out 7 Bruins on the night.
Offensively, the Shamrocks pounded out 10 hits. They were led at the plate by Marshall Meade (4 RBI) and Blake Burkhart (2 RBI) with 2 hits apiece. Caleb Powell, Brayden Watters (1 RBI), Max Miller (2 RBI), Dylan Blon (1 RBI), Parker Sobutka (1 RBI), and Casey Carpenter (3 RBI) each added a hit apiece.
The victory raises the Rox record to 10-9 on the season.
Saturday, May 10: Fort Frye – 8, Barnesville – 4
Saturday, May 10: Barnesville – 6, Monroe Central – 2
The Shamrocks split a pair of games today Saturday.
In game one the Shamrocks lost Fort Frye by a score of 8-4.
In game two the Shamrocks defeated Monroe Central 6-2.
Bobby Thompson earned the mound win by pitching 5 1/3 solid innings. Cam Carpenter pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to preserve the victory.
Offensively, the Shamrocks managed 5 hits. They were led at the plate by Brayden Watters and Dylan Blon (3 RBI) with 2 hits each. Caleb Powell (2 RBI) added 1 hit to the cause.
The Rox record now stands at 11-10 on the season.
Junior Varsity Team
Wednesday, May 7: Barnesville – 6, Wheeling Park – 3
Thursday, May 8: Barnesville – 5, Union Local – 4
The JV team defeated Union Local 5-4 on the road. The victory raised the team’s season record to 9-6.
Friday, May 9: Barnesville – 8, John Marshall – 7
The Junior Varsity team defeated John Marshall tonight at home 8-7. The victory raises their record to 10-6 on the season.
Saturday, May 10: Barnesville – 8, Fort Frye – 5
The Junior Varsity team ran its winning streak to four games in a row by defeating Fort Frye today 8-5. The victory raises their record to 11-6 on the season.
