A New Day on N. Gardner Street

The commercial building at 110 North Gardner Street that was erected in 1949 as the home for Kinney Motor Company, sold recently. The 4,000 square foot building last housed a used appliance store.

The purchaser of the structure is local businessman Sam Wells who is currently clearing the structure of contents and a recently added residential unit located within the structure.

So far workers have filled three large dumpster units with material pulled from the building.

Contacted by phone this week, Wells said the first order of business is clearing out the structure. Initial plans are to use the building for a garage and storage while longer term plans for the structure are under consideration.

The new owner intends to restore the building to its former condition. He is searching for photos of the building when it was a Dodge auto dealership owned by Browne Kinney.

In business since 1999, Wells’ Small Town Outdoor Services operates a variety of businesses in the Barnesville Community.

This address was in the news in 2024 when the former owner was charged with animal cruelty. In May, law enforcement personnel along with members of the Belmont County Hoof and Paw removed three horses and 20 dogs from the address in what was described as deplorable conditions.
