Community Flood Relief Collection Underway at Chestnut Lanes

There was a steady stream of vehicles pulling off of East South Street into the parking lot at Chestnut Lanes early Friday evening. Each brought donated items for the tragic flooding last Saturday night along Wheeling Creek and its tributaries in Ohio County that claimed nine lives.
On hand to collect the items were several volunteers including Travis Kaiser and Dean Wehr. When asked if he was in charge, Kaiser demurred pointing to Wehr stating, “He’s in charge, it was his idea”.
Wehr had on hand at 38-foot trailer and truck, a loan from Belmont Mills, that members of the community were already filling the first night.

“If the community fills this trailer Saturday, there will be another trailer here through Sunday at 5:30 p.m.,” Wehr promised.
Hours of collection until 9:30 p.m., Friday night, Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Suggested items to donate are listed in the image below posted by Kaiser on Facebook.
