Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log from June 9 through June 15 are reported below.

Monday, June 9, 2025

10:29 am – caller who received a text stating he had a fine to pay was advised it is possibly a scam.

1:03 pm – person at station to do a statement. When the subject left, he took an American Flag that was in the lobby. Officer notified the person was seen walking towards the library. Officer out with the person who will be charged with theft. Flag returned.

2:27 pm – person at station regarding a hit skip that occurred on Railroad Street.

3:12 pm – officer attempted to contact the person in reference of the hit skip on Railroad Street.  Guernsey Sheriff’s department notified for follow-up. Contact made at 3:45 pm.

3:26 pm – subject at station in reference of receiving a text that she owes money for a ticket through the BMV. Advised it is a scam.

Tuesday, June 10, 2025

1:26 am – suspicious person on East Church Street. Officer found a male urinating behind the post office.

2:00 am – person caught someone trying to break into neighbor’s car on East Main Street.

8:04 am – Ohio Street. Officer flagged down regarding a stolen vehicle.

9:14 am – subject at station advising a cutting saw was left at the construction site on East Main Street. Person didn’t want it stolen. Officer notified who said other workers were on site with said equipment.

11:31 am – caller from Leatherwood Road advised two dogs are in her yard scaring her dog. Advised to call the animal shelter but there was no answer. Call transferred to 911.

11:37 am – Officer on Ohio Street to follow up regarding stolen vehicle.

1:31 pm – Barnesville BMV advised that they have received numerous calls regarding customers needing to pay a fine for a traffic citation. Advised we have received several calls too. It will be posted on police Facebook page that it is a scam.

2:08 pm – South Chestnut Street crash in front of Convenient. Vehicles moved to Village Hardware lot.

5:19 pm caller from East Main Street states an elderly female is trying to cross the street by Save A Lot with a cane. Caller worried about her safety. Officer notified, but negative contact made.

6:18 pm – person at station regarding threats made against her. Wants to talk to an officer and file a report. Officers talked with the person.

9:07 pm – traffic stop at Certified.

9:54 pm – traffic stop on East Walnut Street.

10:09 pm – traffic stop at Walton Home. A warning was given for headlight.

10:33 pm – traffic stop at BellStores.

Wednesday, June 11, 2025

8:10 am – caller asking about if a wallet has been turned in. Advised negative.

9:04 am – 911 hang up at North Chestnut Street. All ok.

10:34 am – traffic stop on Railroad Road.

12:43 pm – caller from village park advises of a road rage incident that started in town and ended at the park by the cannon. Caller advised other party is trying to leave.

 12:50 pm – On East South Street an officer is out due to unruly or runaway.

2:40 pm – animal shelter called asking if we received any calls about a dog in the Plumly Drive, Plumly Apartments area. Advised negative.

 4:58 pm – disabled vehicle at Harry Dew Road blocking the roadway on dump road. Hissom’s enroute and vehicle towed.

7:29 pm – medical emergency at Bethesda Street. Medical alarm,  spoke with a male.

8:02 pm – vehicle lockout on North Chestnut Street.

8:24 pm – caller asking which officers is on duty tonight.  Advised we don’t give out that information. She advised that she wants to talk to a certain officer due to the officer that we usually send doesn’t do anything for her. She will call the officer directly.

8:36 pm – caller from Belview Street called back stating neighbors are outside shooting BB guns at a garage that are ricocheting off and going toward parked vehicles.

8:40 pm – caller called back and advised we can disregard previous call. She states that her husband went over and handled it with them.

8:52 pm – traffic stop at North Chestnut Street. Vehicle going the wrong way on one way street.

8:59 pm – caller from the park reports a utility line hanging at the park.

9:28 pm – traffic stop at Convenient parking lot.

9:34 pm – traffic stop on South Gardner Street.

10:15 pm – traffic stop at Library Annex.

10:25 pm – traffic stop at DQ parking lot.

 11:01 pm – traffic stop at Commons. Citation given for Driving Under Suspension.

Thursday, June 12, 2025

1:20 am – traffic stop on South Chestnut Street. Warning issued.

10:50 am – Officer out with two vehicles on South Lincoln, both with flashers on. All checks out, the company is working with an internet service.

12:01 pm – caller from Railroad Street advised they followed a truck from Bethesda that crossed the yellow line several times. The truck is now in residential area on Railroad Street. Officer spoke with caller.

1:46 pm – caller advised her dad received a call from a Barnesville Ohio Sheriff’s department. Caller said dad hung up on caller. Advised it was a scam call.

2:43 pm – Belmont County Sheriffs recovered stolen vehicle at Flushing Hollaway Road that was taken in Barnesville. Officer advised 911 to contact Stephens’s towing to tow it to lot on South Chestnut Street. Person in custody.

3:11 pm – lock out on East Main Street.

5:06 pm – assisting squad with a medical emergency on Carrie Avenue.

6:02 pm – vehicle lock out on South Gardner Street.

10:27 pm – traffic stop on West Main Street. Warning given for plate light and exhaust.

Friday, June 13, 2025

12:05 am – traffic stop on Law Street. Warning given for no headlights.

12:24 am – traffic stop on Railroad Street. Warning given for improper display.

12:31 am – traffic stop on East Main Street. Male advised to turn his lights on when riding a bike on the street.

9:14 am – traffic stop on East Main Street.

10:20 am – person at station who thinks someone stole his wallet out of his garage between 4 pm to 1 am this morning.

11:44 am – crash on East Main Street in lot. Unable to move vehicles. No injuries reported. Called Hissom’s for a tow.

1:25 pm –Officer out at Stephens lot on South Chestnut to process recovered stolen vehicle.

5:58 pm – caller reporting a female in a busted-up car acting suspicious is at the gas station on 800. Call transferred to 911.

6:21 pm – person called to let us know that there are people moving things out of a house on Henderson Street. Officer advised it is okay.

9:12 pm – traffic stop on Bond Avenue. Warning was given for headlights.

 9:22 pm – person needs fire department as their fire alarm won’t shut off. There is no fire but can’t get it to shut off.

10:04 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street.

11:44 pm – traffic stop on South Chestnut Street. Warning was given for headlight.

Saturday, June 14, 2025

12:57 am – male states his girlfriend took a bunch of pills and he was going to check on her. It ended up as a verbal argument. Parties were separated for the night.

11:57 am – caller advised that he is going to pick up some wood today from Lowe’s. He states that his trailer is not long enough to haul it. Officer recommended that the caller reach out to the Ohio State Patrol.

3:42 pm – alarm drop on South Chestnut Street. Attempt contact with keyholders. Negative contact.

5:00 pm – report of tree down on Railroad Street blocking one lane of traffic. Roadway is clear at 5:08 pm.

7:22 pm – caller from Commodore Lane called in requesting a welfare check on a person. All units clear.

8:29 pm – traffic stop at Dairy Queen. Warning given for turn signal.

8:55 pm – accident on private property at Wendy’s. Caller states driver in vehicle struck his truck and then struck the Wendy’s building. Caller from Wendy’s states driver may need EMS. Officer advised that the driver does not need medical attention.

9:07 pm – female at station stating one of the postal truck lights are flashing and wanted us to know. Vehicle is secure. Nothing officers can do to turn the lights off.

10:10 pm – traffic stop on West Main Street.

10:30 pm – traffic stop on Pine Lane. Citation issued for expired registration.

10:38 pm – traffic stop on Riesbeck’s lot.

11:34 pm – caller states post office truck lights are still flashing.

Sunday, June 15, 2025

4:08 pm – female at station regarding her dog that was found and picked up by the county shelter.

4:17 pm – female at station needing an escort to get her car. Female is speaking with officers.

7:32 pm – male caller reporting a male slumped over in a truck. Upon checking cameras, it appears as if the male is reading a book.

10:22 pm – traffic stop on North Chestnut Street. Warning was given for marked lanes.
