Barnesville Depot Roof Project Rebid

After the Village of Barnesville opened bids for the depot roof project in June, it was determined, after consultation with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, the project should be rebid.
On the initial round, bids ranged from $154,500 to $260,000. While some bidders applied Ohio Prevailing Wage provisions, others did not and none included performance bonds.
Three bids involved removing and returing good tiles to the structure and mixing in appropriate used or replacement tiles.
A fourth proposal recomended disposing the existing historic roof material and replacing it with new tile from the same manufacturer, Ludowici Roof Tile Company of New Lexington, Ohio.
New bids are now sought by the village. Bids will be opened and read aloud on Wednesday, August 6, at 3 p.m. in the council chambers, according to a public notice published in the local daily newspaper on July 10.
New proposals must incude prevailing wage provisions required by a $75,000 capital grant from the State of Ohio. That grant was secured by Ohio Senator Brian Chavez. The project will also benefit from a $5,000 Belmont County Tourism Office GAP Grant. Several other grant applications are pending.
The historic depot was built in 1916-17 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The current tile roof is original to the building.
