Partisan Candidates File
Only one candidate filed by Wednesday’s deadline for the upcoming Barnesville Village Council election in November according to Kamron Chervenak, deputy director of the Belmont County Board of Elections. Those who file as with a party affiliation must file in February while independent candidates have until May to file for the November 4th ballot.
Noble Corrections Warden Honored
Barnesville resident James “Jay” Forshey, warden at the Noble Correctional (NCI) Institution, for being named DRC’s 2024 Warden of the Year.

Last year, Barnesville Area News shared the closure and sale of the former Hunter Church of Christ, south of Bethesda at 58990 Hunter-Bethesda Road.
The building was purchased and recently renovated and converted into a residence by Tyler Construction, LLC.

Departments Extinguish Truck Fire
Monday night, volunteers from Belmont, Bethesda and Morristown responded to a truck fire on Route 40 -National Road. Upon arrival, they discovered the rear tires and brakes burning. Firemen quickly doused the flames.
