Betty “Maxine” Eagon
Betty “Maxine” Eagon, 76, of Quaker City, OH passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 30, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 27, 1948, in Salesville, OH, a daughter of the late Charles Rodney “Jake” Stillion and Lucille (Reynolds) Stillion.
Maxine was a 1966 graduate of Zane Trace High School. She was a member of Salesville Church of Faith and The Esther’s Circle.
She loved “The Beach Boys”, Oldies music, dancing, old television shows and game shows especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, crosswords, and camping trips to Key Largo, Florida or with the family. Maxine enjoyed going for an evening ride with her beloved, Alan. She enjoyed spending time with “The 66 Girls”, her friends, and her family at the local restaurant in town and date nights with her husband. Maxine was a friend to everyone she met. She was always quick to give a friendly smile and strike up a conversation everywhere she went. She was an avid Buckeye Trail Warriors fan and supporter and Quaker City and Salesville community supporter, including the Quaker City Volunteer Fire Department and any local fundraiser.
Maxine was a devoted mother and mamma/ mamaw. She cherished her grandchildren and devoted many hours volunteering and sharing in their special moments. She never missed a football, basketball, baseball game or a track meet. She always kept the fridge and pantry stocked with goodies. Mamaw’s house was the place to be for Sunday dinners and family time or just a place to clear your head.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband and love of her life, Alan Eagon whom she married on July 4,1967; a daughter, Kristie (Joesph) Bates of Quaker City; and sons, Todd (Brandi) Eagon and Tim (Jill) Eagon of Quaker City, and Josh (Kayla) Eagon of Salesville; ten grandchildren, Brett and Blake Bates, Bryce and Conner Eagon, Camille, Kloie, and Tristan Eagon, and Koen, Kyer, and Kobe Eagon; a sister Eileen (Vernon) Hall; sister- in- laws, Janet (Carl) Duch, Mary Ellen Stillion and Martha Stillion; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; three brothers, Jack, Charles, and Danny Stillion; a granddaughter, Kelsie Bates; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Stillion.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of Guernsey County, the Quaker City Volunteer Fire Department and the countless others that brought food, sat with her, or helped the family through their journey. Special thanks to her cousins and best friends Marna Sheppard and Sheila Buchtel for always being there.
Visitation will be held at Thorn- Black Funeral Home in Quaker City on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 9AM until the time of the service at 1PM with Pastor Perry Baranich with burial to follow at Friends Cemetery.
