Six area Fire Departments assisted Quaker City fire crews in battling a commercial structural fire in the village Friday night with the temperatures in the low 20s.

Destroyed in the fire was the workshop for Don’s Tops and Cabinets, a longtime kitchen and bath cabinet shop that was established in Quaker City in 1996 by Don Burkhart.

Fortunately, Burkhart’s showroom, located in the old Hometowner Print Shop building at 240 South Street, was unaffected.

In addition to Quaker City VFD, departments from Antrim, Barnesville, Fairview, Lore City, Old Washington and Senecaville assisted.
