Robert A. “Bob” McGee

Robert “Bob” A. McGee, Sr., 83, of Frazeysburg, died Friday, January 17, 2025, at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House.

Born February 18, 1941, in Barnesville, he was a son of the late John “Edward” and Mary “Catherine” (McCort) McGee and a 1958 graduate of Barnesville High School.  Bob was a past member and elder of Community Bible Church in Frazeysburg.  More recently, he attended Christian Assembly Newark.  Bob worked for Owens Corning, where he retired after 33 years of service.  He coached baseball in the Frazeysburg community for over 20 years.  Bob was known for being able to fix anything, personal or mechanical, and delighted in doing so for his family and friends.  He enjoyed being outdoors working on projects and spending time with family.  When Bob was forced to be inside, he enjoyed reading about history and debating politics.  He treasured spending time with his family, from the love of his life, Violet, to his great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his three daughters, Judith (Jay) Lefever and Helen (Donald) O’Flaherty both of Frazeysburg and Brenda (Tony) Dostroph of Warsaw; three sons, Robert “Tony” (Paula) McGee, Jr. of Newark, James (Theresa) McGee of Frazeysburg, and Matthew (Dianna) Pierce of Philo; fifteen grandchildren, Kimberly, Paul, Megan, Lance, Brent, Andrew, Kyle, Brian, Daniel, Joseph, Sarah, Jordan, Tyler, Amanda, and Randall; 17 great grandchildren; three brothers, John “Ike” (Jenny) McGee, David (Carol) McGee, and Bruce (Cindy) McGee; two sisters, Laura Wittenbrook and Mary Catherine (Butch) Ramsey; brother-in-law, Frosty (Janet) Pierce; sister-in-law, Bonnie McGee, and several nieces and nephews.

 In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Violet Emelyn McGee, whom he married October 31, 1959, and died January 13, 2025; two sisters, Dorothy Hawthorne and Loretta “Annie” Lavanchey; brother, James McGee; brother-in-law, Jerry Wittenbrook.

Friends and family may call 5pm-7pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the funeral home with Bishop Paul Skaggs officiating.

Robert will be laid to rest next to his wife, Violet, in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
