Belmont County CARES Report Presented

Chad Zambori, director of the Belmont County CARES program, recently shared with Belmont County Commissioners activities for the program in 2024. The county-wide program is associated with the Cumberland Trail Fire District. CARES stands for Community Access Resources Education and Solutions.
Referrals comes from health care professionals, socials services, insurance providers as well as families, friends and the individuals themselves.
During the year, the department
- Completed 687 visits with county residents with 71.1 percent of these ages 60 and over
- Fielded 6,920 calls received.
- Provided 120 smoke detectors to residents through a partnership with the Red Cross
- Handled 100 mental health responses
- Distributed 55 kits for overdose prevention
- Through a $44,946 grant cooperatively received by the Belmont County Senior Services and Belmont County Commissioners purchased AC/Heat units and installed wheelchair ramps for residents age 60 and over. The grant was awarded by the Area Agency on Aging Region 9
- Conducted 10 CPR Classes
- Added Ryan Gallagher, Nurse Practitioner in November through a cooperative agreement with the Ohio Hills Health Centers
