During the heyday of U.S. Route 40 John Phillip “Phil” Ramsay (1902-94) and his wife, Edna Elizabeth McFarland Ramsay (1914-2005) operated a garage and for a while, a hotel on the southwest corner of Route 40 and State Route 149.
This was just one of many businesses that lined the federal highway including restaurants and motels from the advent of the “auto age” and the opening of the interstate highway system.
This postcard dates to the 1930s.
