New Statute of Virgin Mary Planned

A new life-size statue of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary will be placed at The Catholic Cemetery on South Chestnut Street in the near future thanks to a generous donation to the Barnesville Parish. Along with the new statute, a refurbished metal sign will grace the cemetery.

For decades a concrete statue on a brick pyramid was framed by the sign.

According to the church bulletin, the new statute made in Ecuador, traveled by ship to Florida and is now on its way overland to Barnesville.

The new statue will be placed on a granite sign by Gallagher & Sons Monuments after which a formal blessing will take place.

Barnesville Catholic Cemetery Spring Clean Up
