Belmont County LifeWise Programs Plan 5K Race

Belmont County LifeWise Directors are coordinating a 5K run to raise money for its Bible-based learning programs next month..
The race will take place Saturday, August 9, at the Belmont County Fairgrounds, 45420 Roscoe Rd, St. Clairsville. Day of race registration opens at 7 a.m. followed by the race at 8:30 a.m.
Online registration is currently up and running at runsignup.com. The fee is $30 per person or $20 for ages 17 and under. If participants register by Aug. 1, they will be guaranteed a T-shirt the day of the race.

Strollers are welcome. Dogs are also welcome to run and walk as long as they are leashed and cleaned up after.
A free children’s color run for age groups of kindergarten to second grade and third grade to fifth, will take place after the last participant of the 5K finishes and before the awards ceremony. Children should wear a white T-shirt if taking part.
The event is described as a family-friendly environment with children’s games and activities before and during the race.
Directors of each of the LifeWise programs in the county want to spread awareness of LifeWise and show unity and faith by coming up with the idea for the race, stated Liza Spence, Barnesville director. The directors thought it would be a good opportunity to raise money for the program with profits from the event distributed among the seven school districts’ programs.
LifeWise Academy is a nationwide nonprofit organization established in 2018 that takes public school students off campus once a week during regular school hours to share Bible-based education.
The program is totally privately funded and requires parental permission for students to take part. LifeWise uses Bible stories to teach character traits and qualities to students, such as responsibility, respect, sacrifice, kindness, generosity, and wholeheartedness, Spence added.
“Our goal is to show the unity among all seven communities,” Spence added. “LifeWise is a family, and we love seeing our family grow. We are excited to see the students and families we serve. God is doing great things in Belmont County, and we give him all of the glory.”
