Olney Seeks Development and Alumni Relations Candidates

BARNESVILLE – Olney Friends School seeks an experienced and visionary professional to serve as Director of Development and Alumni Relations, beginning in the 2025 to 2026 academic year. This full-time, senior administrative position will lead a growing team that includes the Philanthropy and Donor Stewardship Manager and a Development Administrative Assistant. The Director will oversee fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, alumni engagement, and capital campaign planning in alignment with the School’s 2025 to 2030 Strategic Plan and its enduring Quaker values. The Director of Development and Alumni Relations reports to the Head of School and collaborates closely with other members of the Administrative Team to implement the Board’s strategy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership and Oversight

  • Serve as chief fundraiser and philanthropic strategist for Olney Friends School.
  • Design, implement, and assess a comprehensive fundraising program that includes annual giving, major gifts, endowment-building, capital campaigns, and planned giving.
  • Supervise the Philanthropy and Donor Stewardship Manager and a Development Administrative Assistant, ensuring coordinated efforts and professional growth.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Build long-term relationships with alumni, parents, friends, and philanthropic organizations.
  • Represent Olney Friends School in key fundraising meetings, events, and visits locally and nationally.

Campaigns and Grants

  • Lead or support fundraising campaigns for capital improvements and endowment growth.
  • Oversee grant strategy in collaboration with the Philanthropy and Donor Stewardship Manager.
  • Ensure effective tracking of applications, donor data, and timely reporting.

Alumni Engagement

  • Strengthen alumni networks across generations and regions through targeted communication and meaningful events.
  • Encourage alumni to serve as ambassadors, mentors, and contributors to the School’s future.
  • Lead peer-to-peer giving initiatives and reunion outreach, in partnership with the Board and Advancement Committee.

Communications and Collaboration

  • Coordinate with the Admissions and Marketing teams to ensure consistent messaging in development-related publications and outreach.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for the Head of School, Advancement Committee, and Board of Trustees.
  • Model Quaker-informed leadership in all interactions and represent the values of Olney Friends School with authenticity and respect.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising, preferably in an independent school or higher education setting.
  • Experience in managing development staff and leading comprehensive fundraising efforts.
  • Proven track record in donor relations, major gift solicitation, and campaign management.
  • Strong communication, data analysis, and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and fundraising platforms.
  • Alignment with Quaker values and an openness to participating in Meeting for Worship and consensus-based decision-making.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree or CFRE certification is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings or weekends as needed.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary range: Commensurate with experience.

Includes a school-provided primary health care program, retirement contribution, professional development funds, and meals during duty times. On-campus housing may be available.
