Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log from July 28 through August 3 are reported below.

Monday, July 28, 2025

1:40 am – two males on station in reference to pursuit.

5:25 am – assisting squad on Belview Street.

8:51 am – individual on station wanting to file a report. Individual talking with an officer.

10:39 am – two calls about an accident on Roosevelt Road near the Walton Home. No report of injury. Semi-truck and car involved.

1:37 pm – male on station in reference to a neighbor issue.

1:59 pm – caller stating son is missing from Coshocton County and wanting to file a missing persons report. I advised him to contact their local agency.

2:18 pm – Belmont County Sheriff’s department transferred a call from a person in reference to a stolen truck in Zanesville. I told him to contact the Zanesville Police department.

4:58 pm – employee from the Barnesville Hospital called in reference to a person who left the facility on foot towards town. Male is pinked slipped. Officer located the individual.

5:16 pm – officer out checking on a vehicle. Advised that the vehicle in no longer there.

5:28 pm – officer out on Kennard Avenue in reference to an earlier neighbor’s complaint. Officer had negative contact.

6:23 pm – officer assisted squad with a patient lift on Leatherwood.

7:03 pm – caller from East Walnut Street about a street vehicle parking complaint. I advised her street parking is public parking and not much can be done.

7:19 pm -caller from McGee Drive advising kids riding a dirt bike around his property. Officer spoke with the kids.

9:02 pm – caller from East Main Street advising she has a small black and white dog on her porch. She was advised that the dog belongs to a person on Henderson Street. She stated she could take the dog to the owner if that was okay with us.

9:19 pm – 911 received a call from Warren Avenue stating a neighbor is shooting off a gun.

Tuesday, July 29, 2025

7:51 am – caller from East Main Street requesting an officer about a parked vehicle and unmoved in a lot for a while. Office made contact with the owner of the vehicle and a 48 hour notice was applied to the vehicle.

9:15 am – traffic stop on East Walnut Street. Warning was given for turn signal.

1:27 pm – officer out on Kennard Avenue for a follow up investigation.

1:30 pm – cemetery crew found a mongoose bike in the woods. It is possibly the stolen bike that was reported a while ago.

4:35 pm – officer out on West Main Street in reference to trash in a parked vehicle. Officer made contact with the owner and was given 3-5 days to have it moved.

6:06 pm – officer on West South Street in reference to a vehicle registration expired. Warning was given to take care of it asap.

6:06 pm – traffic stop on West South Street.

6:12 pm – officer on Harrison Street attempting to serve Mayor’s court appearance. Officer didn’t make contact and left a business card in the door.

8:16 pm –  traffic stop on Railroad Street. Warning was given for speed.

Wednesday, July 30, 2025

12:20 am – traffic stop on East Church Street.

8:57 am – caller from East Main Street in reference to traffic lights at the area of repairing the water line break. Caller stated people are not observing the changing of the lights and someone should be out watching the traffic. I advised an officer.

9:17 am – another caller complaining about the traffic lights on East Main Street. People are running the red light and not stopping when they are suppose to. I advise an officer.

9:29 am – officer checking on traffic light situation and stated the traffic was flowing fine.

11:20 am – officer on Harrison Street attempting to serve papers. Officer didn’t make contact.

12:56 pm – officer on Harrison Street attempting to serve papers. Papers were served to the person.

1:35 pm – male on station stating he hired a contactor and paid him but he never showed up. He wanted to file a police report. He lives on Flatrock Road and I advised him to contact the Sheriff’s department.

1:42 pm – posted in Facebook comments complaining of speeders on Bond Avenue near the laundry mat. I placed a note on the board for the officers for extra patrols in this area.

3:35 pm -caller states wanting to know if she can drive a golf cart because she doesn’t have a driver’s license. I advised her she legally can’t drive the cart.

3:57 pm – traffic stop on North Route 800 about a trailer. Person was putting more straps on to secure the load.

5:45 pm – traffic stop on Bond Avenue. Warning was given for exiting the park the wrong way.

6:06 pm – caller referencing power line down in the yard. Fire department is on the scene.

6:26 pm – caller advised her granddaughter’s basketball fell out of the back of her truck and went into the park lake. She asked if officers could retrieve it. I advised that I will watch the cameras and if the ball comes close to the shore, I will advise an officer.

11:23 pm – officer out at the park advising a person that the park is closed.

Thursday, July 31, 2025

6:04 am – officer out with the squad on North Arch Street.

8:51 am – caller in reference to a trailer with no plates parked on his lot behind Family Dollar for approximately a week. He asked if he can have it removed and I advised him yes because it is on his property.

9:02 am – I was advised by the gas company that Vine Street/South Lincoln Avenue will be closed temporarily.

9:02 am – traffic stop on First/Second Street Bethesda.

10:15 pm – person on station in reference to her rental property on Washington Street.

11:40 am – traffic stop at Save A lot.

1:39 pm – person on station in reference to phone harassment.

5:06 pm – call from the Barnesville Hospital emergency room states they have a pink slipped person trying to leave.

6:08 pm – caller asking if a brown wallet got turned in. I advised that no one has.

6:47 pm – male on station wanting to know if we have cameras on Railroad Street.

7:16 pm – caller from South Gardner Street reporting loud music coming from a few houses down. Home owner advised to turn the music down.

7:56 pm – caller on the interstate needing a tire. I advised him to call a tow company because we don’t do that.

8:04 pm – caller from South Gardner Street stating the music came back on again when the officer left. Officer advised the person if he gets a call to come back, he will be getting a citation.

9:09 pm – caller from Leatherwood Road stating someone stole two bikes out of her yard. The bikes are one pink and gray and one purple and white. Two people both were carrying sticks.

9:34 pm – caller reporting nearly hitting two males on Leatherwood near Kaplets near Bailey Mills. Men advised they were walking from PA to California. Caller identified the bikes and wanting to press charges. Belmont County Sheriff’s transporting the 2 males.

Friday, August 1, 2025

12:32 am – traffic stop on Slabtown Road.

1:12 am – traffic stop on Leatherwood.

9:01 am – officer on East South Street attempting to serve property abatement. Officer had negative contact.

2:25 pm – called Hissom’s towing to tow vehicle from Cheffy’s lot. 48 hour tow notice expired.

4:10 pm – officer on East South Street attempting to serve abatement.

6:33 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street.

11:24 pm – traffic stop on Sandy Ridge Road. Officer advised to call Stephens Towing Company to tow the vehicle.

11:51 pm – male on station wanting to talk with an officer and left his contact information.

 Saturday, August 2, 2025

12:03 am – male called advising he found 2 dogs running loose in the area of the airport. He was willing to house the dogs until the owner was found. I advised him to call the animal shelter in the morning.

9:36 am – male on station wanting to speak to an officer.

11:32 am – caller wanting to know if he can get his truck back. I advised I would have an officer contact him.

 12:40 pm – traffic stop on North Chestnut Street. Warning was given for plate/sticker mix up.

2:47 pm – person on station about their vehicle being struck in the Antique Mall parking lot. I checked the camera and could see the accident.

6:01 pm – traffic stop on Route 147 east. Written warning was given for speed.

8:13 pm – traffic stop on West Main Street.

8:33 pm – traffic stop on North Chestnut Street.

8:48 pm – Game Warden called advising to have a report of a 3-4 foot alligator in the park lake. It was spotted on Thursday evening around 8-9 pm. He wants everyone to be on the look out for it. He states it is not uncommon for this to happen in Ohio.

11:39 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street.

Sunday, August 3, 2025

8:58 am – alarm drop on East Main Street. I spoke with an employee and it was accidently set off.

9:47 am – traffic stop on West Main Street.

5:29 pm – vehicle lockout at the park lake. I advised to call a towing company since an officer doesn’t have lockout tools.

8:43 pm – 911 called asking if we have a K9 officer on duty. I advised that we do but that is the only officer we have on duty now. They advised to disregard.

8:49 pm – caller stating needing the EMS and asked if needing to call 911. I advised her to call 911 and I transferred caller to 911.

10:36 pm – investigate complaint on Bethesda Street.
