Barnesville Community Comes Together to Support Cancer Patient

A dinner benefit will take place later this month in Barnesville to support a resident with cancer.

The cancer benefit dinner for Jay Lucas will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Barnesville Elks Lodge. Dinner will be served until 6 p.m. or until sold out. 

Dinner tickets can be purchased in advance or at the benefit for $15 per ticket. The dinner will be by Two StackBar-B-Que, with a choice of chicken or pulled pork, along with two sides. Desserts and soda and water will be available for purchase along with a cash bar.

The event will have a Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing, Texas Hold-Em’ tournament and auction. The Texas Hold-Em’ tournament will start at 6 p.m. with a $40 buy-in with $10 of the buy-in going toward the benefit. Additionally, The Ohio State football game will be televised.

Doctors diagnosed Lucas with stage 3 Colorectal Cancer in 2022. He went through radiation, chemotherapy and surgery and was cancer free for two years. Jay was diagnosed with stage 4 Colorectal Cancer that metastasized to his left lung and lymph nodes at his two-year check up.  He is now currently going through chemotherapy. Due to the side effects, Jay is no longer working. 

All proceeds from the benefit will go toward medical expenses.
