Festival Offers Free Shuttle Bus and Police Offer Travel, Parking Advice

Pumpkin Festival visitors may ride the free shuttle bus service both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
The bus will run continuously from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, except during the parade. The shuttle route starts at Barnesville High School with parking available and ends at the Ohio Hills Health Center at 101 E. Main St. across from the King Pumpkin.
The shuttle will run from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday starting at Barnesville High School with parking available and ends at Ohio Hills Health Center, too.
The Barnesville Police Department provided the following important reminders for Pumpkin Festival visitors.
No parking zones Sept. 24-28:
West Church Street – no parking from North Chestnut to North Gardner
West South Street – no parking from South Chestnut to South Gardner
The department’s Facebook page says do not block fire hydrants and intersections and do not park on or block sidewalks.
The PD would also like drivers to allow room for emergency vehicles to get through by not blocking or parking in alleyways, which include alleyways that provide first responders with access to and from the festival.
Another reminder is to not place objects into alleyways or streets, such as chairs, cones, roadblocks and more.
During the Giant Pumpkin Parade on Saturday, roads are closed and restrictions are present:
No parking on East Main Street and North Chestnut Street.
State Route 800 South into Barnesville and State Route 147 East into Barnesville will be closed within the village limits for the parade from approximately noon to 4 p.m.
Some village parking lots were already restricted starting on Sunday, including the East Main Street lot between Cheffy Drugs and Avenues of Barnesville. The West Main Parking Lot next to the Blue Moon Tavern closed Tuesday. These lots will remain closed until Sunday.
Street closures that started Monday:
West Main Street – from Chestnut Street to Gardner Street
North Broadway Street – from West Church to South Broadway
South Broadway Street – From North Broadway to West South Street
“Please use caution while traveling around the Pumpkin Festival, as there will be more pedestrian traffic. Drive carefully and yield to pedestrians at crosswalks,” the post said. “If you see an emergency vehicle with lights and sirens activated, please pull over to the side of the road safely and yield the right-of-way. This allows them to pass and respond to emergencies quickly. Your cooperation ensures everyone’s safety.”
