Barnesville Included in Autumn-Ready Ohio Towns Promotion

Barnesville is one of 11 Ohio towns featured in the online World Atlas as an ideal community to visit for a fall retreat that was released this week.
In noting the honor, Belmont County Tourism Director Jackee Pugh wrote, “Barnesville isn’t just one of Ohio Magazine’s Best hometowns; it’s also the place for an autumn destination.”
The publicaiton notes “Ohio’s natural allure persists throughout the four seasons, but autumn can be particularly special with the green tree leaves transforming into brilliant patches of burgundy, crimson, and mustard. Beyond the concrete jungle in the urban sprawl, Ohio’s countryside explodes into a wonderland of vibrant colors, crisp air, and small-town charm that feels tailor-made for a cozy weekend escape”.
Barnesville, a “tiny village in Belmont County hosts one of the most popular fall festivals in the state, luring vacationers with a promise of an unforgettable weekend. Every September, almost 100,000 festival goers descend upon Barnesville for four days of nonstop fun during the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival. Festivities range from pumpkin displays and craft exhibitions to antique car shows and hog calling, spreading cheer among the young and old alike”.
“Apart from the festival, Barnesville’s countryside explodes with color, inviting leaf-peepers to feast their eyes on the spectacular scene at Barnesville Memorial Park. The sprawling park adopts a new coat of reds, yellows, and oranges, while providing lush lawns for those who want to relax and revel in the views. Also, the crisp autumn air calls for a laid-back hike at Rock River Refuge, where a 2.5-mile walking path lets you discover dramatic sandstone cliffs, deep ravines, pristine streams, and a mature forest. When you are exhausted from the demanding hiking, you can have a peaceful rest amidst nature at Harrison Park RV Camp” just off East Main Street”.
Other Ohio communities included on the list are Bainbridge, Brunswick, Brea, Peninsula, Waynesville, Circleville, Loudenville, Wooster, Millersburg and Yellow Springs.
WorldAtlas dates to 1994. Today, it is one of the largest publishing resources in geography and other topics, including sociology, demography, environment, economics, politics, and travel.
