Stubborn I-70 Trailer Fire Extinguished

FAIRVIEW – Monday night just before 10 p.m., Fairview VFD crews were called out for a smoking semi-trailer on I-70 three miles west of the Belmont-Guernsey counties line, according to a detailed social media account posted by the department.
Upon arrival, firemen discovered a tire fire had breached the trailer floor and ignited the cargo too.
Antrim and Quaker City crews joined in with tankers and more manpower unloading the trailer from the rear and cutting access holes along the sides where fire was discovered throughout.


Additional tankers and manpower were requested from Old Washington and Barnesville departments who also joined the battle.
In all 19 firefighters from five departments responded, according to the report.
Fire and EMS units cleared the scene at shortly before 2 a.m. Clean up lasted throughout the night.
