Chili Cook Off Raises Thousands of Dollars
Contestants faced off Saturday in the third annual Blue Moon Copper Chili Cookoff. With a total of 10 entrants, winners collected money and prizes, plus bragging rights!
However, the biggest winner was the Barnesville State Theater group as event organizer, Susan Lapham, presented a check for $25,000 to Roger Johnson, group president.
Cook Off Winners were:
1st Place: Red River Chili (Wayne Lapham) – $250 and personalized engraved copper cup
2nd Place: Steve and Crystal Kalman – $150
3rd Place: Chilbilly (Wade Riemenschneider) – $100
People’s Choice: Two Stack (Randy Stephen)
Best Booth Presentation: M*A*S*H theme (Sally Johnson)
Judges of the cookoff were Keith Baum, Barnesville High School culinary arts teacher, Jennifer Compston-Strough, director of development and alumni relations at Olney Friends School, and Mark Glass, former executive chef at Wheeling Country Club.

Copper Cups were displayed by volunteers, Brandy Little and Alice Hunkler while they sold tickets for the tastings.

Contestants faced off in the Blue Moon Copper Cup Chili Cookoff on Saturday to determine the best chili recipe.
