Carl Joseph Pierce

Carl Joseph Pierce, 78, of Belmont, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Wheeling Hospital. He was born October 4, 1947, at home in Glencoe, Ohio a son of the late Joseph Robert Pierce and Elizabeth Ann Seevers Pierce.

He was a retired coal miner for the Saginaw Mining Company. He was a member of the UMWA and the former Glencoe United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching NASCAR and football, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He was a family man, his foundation in joy was his children and his grandchildren, wanting their happiness and success. He was very proud of his family heritage and cherished the generational farm property. He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Simon Lake.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Jo Ann Junkins and Frances Marie Funkhouser.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Cheryl Lynn Parker Pierce; two daughters, Sherri (Rusty) Myers and Karen (Rick) Mihalic; three grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Padgett, Sailor Myers and Braedyn Mihalic; two great grandchildren, Alexander and Maximus Padgett; sister, Marlene Hubbard; brother, Frank (Sheila) Pierce; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Chaplain Kris Bright officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Moundsville Honor Guard in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Warnock Cemetery.
