Volunteers Needed for Backpack Program Packing Event
The Belmont County Farm Bureau is looking for volunteers for the School Backpack Program Packaging Event two days next weekend.
The program will take place starting at noon next Saturday and 1 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Ickes Family Life Center at 67880 Friends Church Rd., St. Clairsville. Each session lasts five hours hours according to the group’s Facebook event page.
The event is a meal packing program that provides non-perishable food for needy students to take home each weekend and during school breaks.

Initiated six years ago, the program now serves over 600 students across all seven Belmont County school districts, including Barnesville and Union Local.
The program relies on volunteers for packing events and receives funding from community donations, the county, and Job and Family Services.
Individuals and groups are welcome to volunteer for the event for one day or both. .
“It will be an amazing and life changing opportunity to help hungry kids have a hot meal to eat,” a spokesperson for the Farm Bureau said.
Contact the Belmont County Farm Bureau at 740-425-3681, email belmont@ofbf.org or reach out to Devin Cain, event coordinator 740-391-0869 for more information. The farm bureau encourages groups of 10 or more to call and reserve a table for the project.
