Communities, Schools and Organizations Mark Veterans Day
Area communities observed Veterans Day last week with a variety of activities, programs and meals.
In Barnesville on Monday night, the Elks Lodge hosted area veterans for their annual spaghetti dinner.
Barnesville Schools hosted veterans in three ways. The elementary school hosted a program featuring Barnesville veterans’ organizations. High school students welcomed veterans for breakfast while middle school students feted veterans at lunch.
Union Local District American Legion posts at Belmont, Bethesda and Flushing interacted with students and young people.
Belmont American Legion #312 donated profits from the group’s recent spaghetti dinner fundraiser to the Union Local Elementary School to purchase items to make sure needy students have a Merry Christmas.

Belmont American Legion Post #312 members presented a check for $500 to Union Local Elementary School grades 3-5 principal Ron Bober a check for $500 on Nov. 6. Members of Flushing Post American Legion #366 were part of the Veterans Day Program at Union Local Middle School.



The Tri-State Military Museum in Belmont hosted Barnesville Vietnam War Marine David L. Huntsman who was critically wounded in the war and who was also interviewed by a WTOV-TV 9 film crew.


Members of the Epworth American Legion Post #90 at Bethesda joined youngsters at the Bethesda Public Library on Nov. 7 for Storytime. Members read from books for the young ones present while the young folks staged an indoor patriotic parade as part of Storytime.



And, the Village of Belmont rolled out the “red carpet” with this sign!
