Arthur ‘Ed’ Burley

Arthur ‘Ed’ Burley, 82, of Bethesda, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, December 4, 2025.  Born in Wheeling, WV, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Alice (Hogue) Burley.

Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol Burley; an infant son, Jeffery Burley; brother Kenny and grandsons Ryan Neitzelt and Taylor Harris.

Treasuring Ed’s memory are those who survive; sister Nancy (Thom) Gross of Canal Winchester; brother Roger (Catrina) Burley of Marengo; daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Harris of Bethesda; sons, Steven (Christine) Burley of Belmont, David (Lindsay) Burley of Bethesda; grandchildren, Chad Burley, Rebecca Neitzelt, Daniel Burley, James Dowdle, Brandy Smith, Clorisa Tanner, Brooklyn Burley, Carson Burley, Reagan Burley, Cody Harris, and Gage Harris; 11 great-grandchildren; along with a brother in law and sister in law and several nieces and nephews.

A member and former Deacon of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ed was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord with all his heart.  He accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1969 and proudly served Him all his life.  In past years his service to the church also included: The Bus Ministry, Vacation Bible School and Saturday visitations.  Outside of church Ed could be found playing golf, watching John Wayne movies and watching WVU football games.  Most of all, he could be found being ‘Pap’ to all of his grandchildren which included watching some participate in volleyball, softball, basketball and other sports.  His family was his world. Sunday dinners, cooked by his wife Carol, was near and dear to him and all their family

Family will welcome guests for visitation, Monday, December 8th, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wilson Funeral Home – Bethesda Chapel, 322 N. Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio 43719.

The service for Ed will be held, Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, at 1 pm, with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service, Ebenezer Baptist Church, 309 Oak Street, Bethesda.  Dr. Brian Bee, Pastor will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be mail to Ebenezer Baptist Church or given at the funeral proceedings.
