BHS Marching Band Members Honored at Banquet
The BHS marching band awards banquet was held on December 9 in the Barnesville Elk’s ballroom. The Barnesville Shamrock Band Sponsors hosted the annual event. The students had the option to participate in a gift exchange as part of the evening’s festivities. The following award recognitions were presented:
- Section of the Year: Woodwinds
- Majorettes Most Improved: Lily Doherty
- Majorettes Best Showmanship: Maggie Schnegg
- Colorguard Most Improved: Kendyl Kunkle
- Colorguard Best Showmanship: Bray Nalley
- Woodwinds Most Improved: Peyton Steed
- Woodwinds Best Showmanship: Trisha Johnson
- Brass Most Improved: Talen Jones
- Brass Best Showmanship: Maia Kubat
- Drumline Most Improved: Noah Neiswonger
- Drumline Best Showmanship: Dalton Drake
Senior Callie Brown received this year’s Kay Allison Award. Kay Allison was a volunteer and the backbone of the Barnesville Shamrock Marching Band for many years. She was feisty, charming, and cared about the band. Recipients of this award carry on the legacy of Kay Allison. The recipient is an upperclassman in the band’s auxiliary who demonstrates outstanding leadership.
Seniors Hayden Fox and Felicity Claus were awarded the Director’s Award. This award is presented to up to two upperclassmen who demonstrate exceptional musicanship and marching skills throughout the season. The recipients are quick to memorize music and routines. They are leaders of their section, being exemplary mentors for other band members.
