Denise M. O’Connell

Denise M. O’Connell, 58, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at WVU Medicine – Barnesville Hospital Emergency Room. She was born on October 15, 1967, in Wheeling, West Virginia to Sharon H. (White) O’Connell and the late Louis S. O’Connell.

Denise was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2792 Auxiliary and proudly served as an officer. She was a faithful member of the former Shady Lane Baptist Church in Barnesville and held her faith close to her heart. Denise shared that faith through music, lovingly playing the organ in many local churches over the years. She also had a deep and devoted love for her animals, who brought her great comfort and joy. Denise had a love for gardening and flowers, taking great pride in nurturing their beauty and watching them grow.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ryan O’Connell; grandparents, Louis S. and Marie O’Connell, Harry White, and Wilda (Jones) McWilliams; beloved pet, Kirby.

Denise is survived by her mother, Sharon H. (White) O’Connell of Barnesville; beloved pets, Milo and Sly; and good friend, Kari McGee.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 12pm until the time of the service at 1pm with Rev. Tom Detling officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Hendrysburg, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Denise’s memory to the Belmont County Animals Shelter, 45244 National Rd W, St Clairsville, OH 43950.
