Chester Eugene Van Dyne

Chester Eugene Van Dyne, 89, of Beallsville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family.  A son of the late Chester Raymond “Joe” and Elsie Jane Brooks Van Dyne, “Eugene,” as he will be remembered by many friends and family, was born “Chester Eugene VanDyne,” on August 6, 1936 in Dover, Ohio. 

Eugene retired with 20 years of service in the United States Air Force, having served as a Red Horse Civil Engineer.  After his Air Force retirement he had been employed at the former North American Coal Company #5 Mine.   Eugene worked as the sexton and care-taker of the Beallsville Cemetery for many years and also served as a member of the Beallsville Village Council.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Ann Beutler Van Dyne; a brother; Bob Van Dyne; two sisters, Nada Albus and Barbara “Kay” Ramsey; a son Hoss Hudson.  

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Patty Lou Crum Van Dyne; daughters, Cheryl (Ray) Cole and Wendy (Dale) Roman; sons, Raymond (Shawn) Van Dyne, Jeff (Kelly) Van Dyne, and Bill (Brenda) Hudson; daughter-in-law, Tammy Hudson; grandchildren, Austin, Kelsie, Katarina, Zachary, Tara, Michael, Derek, Amber, Brandon, and Paige; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Carter, Colton, Hunter, Bryson, Jace, Camden, Bode, Stella, Eli, Kase, Owen, and Sawyer.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 23 from 4pm to 8pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel, Beallsville where services will be held Saturday, January 24 at 1pm with Rusty Atkinson offering words of comfort.  Interment will follow in Beallsville, Cemetery.

Full Military Honors by American Legion Post 768, Beallsville will be presented at the funeral home just prior to the beginning of Eugene’s funeral service.
