Grear Headed to OVAC Hall of Fame
WHEELING – The Ohio Valley Athletic Association announced through a press release in the valley’s daily newspapers Saturday that 1998 Barnesville High School graduate Ryan Grear will be inducted into the OVAC Hall of Fame later this summer.
Grear, an outstanding member of the Shamrock and the Ohio State Buckeye teams, was inducted into the Eastern District & Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in June.

Since 2020, Grear has served as a coach for his alma mater as a Track and Field Coach. He was the Sprint/Hurdle Coach for the 2023 and 2024 Girls’ OVAC Championship Teams and was Girls’ Head Coach in 2025.
As a coach, he was named 2023 Ohio Association Track & Cross-Country Coaches East District Assistant Coach of the Year.
