Marylin Ellen Shipley

Marylin Ellen Shipley (nee Phelps), age 90, of Hudson, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026.

Marylin was born in Great Bend, Pennsylvania. She attended Nyack College and went on to earn her master’s in teaching from Geneva College. She was a lifelong elementary school teacher at Beaver Local and was the organist at any church where her husband Richard served. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, and baking, and was always making things for her friends and family to enjoy (especially halfway cookies).

Marylin is the beloved wife of 69 years to the late Reverend Dr. Richard L. Shipley; devoted mother of Samuel (Amy) Shipley and John (Marcy) Shipley; cherished grandparents of Emily (Andrew) Winter, Benjamin Shipley, Adam (Megan) Shipley, Abigail (Daniel) Van Kirk, Amanda (Michael) Ferrari, Annabelle Shipley, Hallie (Brian Munch) Shipley, Kathleen (Ryan) Bowen and Sara (Brian Kurr) Shipley; dear great grandparents of Adalyn & Ethan Winter; Peyton & Millie Shipley; Aiden, Emmett, Elliott, Molly & Mabel Van Kirk; Fletcher, Lyla & Pacey Ferrari; Cameron Chance, Sofia & Jacob Bowen; loving sister of the late Margaret, Donald, Ruth and Allen; dear aunt and great aunt of many.

The family will receive friends on February 21 at 11:00 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson, 21 Aurora Street, Hudson, Ohio where funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM. Service and Internment at Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church, 15851 Longs Church Rd, Calcutta, OH 43920 at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 23, 2026.
