Hines Takes State Title!
Boys Team is 6th in Ohio Division III
BHS freshman female wrestler Ladyn Hines made her first trip to Columbus to compete in the State Wrestling Tournament and came away a winner! She claimed the state crown at 115 pounds defeating Little Miami’s Laylee Vera 4-1 in overtime.
In the semi-final round, Hines defeated defending state champion Camryn Gresham of Cincinnati aera Lakota East High School, 7-2.
Hines, who also won the OVAC Crown and claimed several invitational tournament championships during the season, finished her first year competing on the high school level at 39-4.
In the boys’ division, Barnesville came in 6th place in the Division III state championship race with 53.5 points with five wrestlers reaching the podium.
Junior Easton Stephen placed sixth in the 106 lb. weight class. He fell to Brenden Bosco of Archbold 10-0 in his final match. He finished the season with a 38-17 record.
Freshman Jaxon Aberegg came in 3rd at 120 pounds. In his final match, he defeated Damien Kemble 7-3 to finish his season with a record 50-6.
Freshman Ryder King came in 8th at 138 pounds. In his final match he fell to Stephen Patterson of Waynedale, 6-4. His season record ended at 39-16.
Junior Colt Carpenter came in 4th place in the 144 lb. class, his second appearance as an all-stater. He lost his final match to Owen Patrizi of Mohawk 7-3.
In the semis, he defeated Kayden Wellman of Archbold 5-0. His season record, 43-11.
Senior Hines Ford defeated Tye Berquist of Crestwood, 8-0, to claim 5th place in the state at 175 pounds. Hines, a two-time state placer, finishes his final BHS season with a 50-9 record.
