Tickets on Sale for Spring Chamber of Commerce Banquet
Barnesville Native, BHS Grad and Cincinnati Architect is Keynote Speaker
Michael Schuster, founder and principal of MSA Design, will be the featured guest speaker at the Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce’s spring banquet.
The banquet will take place at 6 p.m. April 23 at the Elk’s Lodge Ballroom. Tickets are $35 per person and $60 per couple and are currently on sale at the chamber office during regular hours, Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees may also reach out to chamber director Jill Hissom at 740-425-4300 or bacc@barnesvilleohiochamber.com to secure tickets.
Tickets may be purchased with cash or check. Ticket purchases are nonrefundable.
Schuster is a nationally respected architect with more than four decades of experience. He leads MSA Design, an award-winning firm known for creating distinctive, high-impact environments across education, civic and sports markets. Under his leadership, the firm has grown from a single-person practice into a 70-plus-employee operation with offices in Cincinnati and Columbus, earning more than 120 design awards and recognition as a leading Midwest design practice.
“A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and recipient of the Ohio American Institute of Architects (AIA) Gold Medal, Michael champions intentional, responsible, design-forward architecture that creates meaningful places with enduring impact,” the chamber said in event information.
He holds the designation of LEED AP, a credential distinguishing those with advanced knowledge in green buildings, plus expertise the LEED rating system.
Schuster, a Barnesville High School graduate in 1974, has completed projects for the Barnesville Exempted Village School District, the Village of Barnesville and is currently working on the Barnesville State Theater project. He was inducted into the Barnesville Education Foundation Hall of Fame a few years ago. His late father, Dr. Joseph M. Schuster, Jr., was a longtime physician at Barnesville Hospital.
Schuster earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati’s School of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning and became a registered architect in 1982, according to William Knox, CPA. He is certified to practice in 30 states
He founded MSA Architects in 1985 with the goal of creating a “better firm.” The company has since expanded its services to include architecture, interior design and graphics.
Throughout his career, Schuster has collaborated with institutions including the University of Cincinnati, Miami University, Xavier University, Northern Kentucky University and Great Oaks Career Development Campuses. His work also includes major civic and sports projects such as Government Square, Great American Ballpark and facilities associated with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Schuster has played a key role in sports design through MSA Sport, a division of the firm that is ranked among the top sports design firms in the country. His work includes projects for organizations such as the Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros and Miami Marlins, as well as minor league teams. He has also led design efforts for facilities including the FC Cincinnati MLS Training Facility and football training facilities at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio State University and Penn State.
Schuster serves as an adjunct design professor at the University of Cincinnati, focusing on advanced prefabrication and design concepts that enhance user experience. He has been active in the local and state American Institute of Architects Chapters being president of both as well as the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati and has served on community and educational boards. He currently serves as vice chair at DePaul Cristo Rey High School.
In addition to ticket sales, the Chamber is currently accepting nominations for Citizen of the Year and volunteer centerpiece “artists” who will volunteer to create table centerpieces.
