Weather Halts Shamrock Classic
The heavens opened up shortly before 3 p.m. on Saturday with rain continuing for over two hours. As a result, organizers of the annual Shamrock Classic Baseball Tournament decided not to resume play.
In the first round of play, Wheeling Central Catholic and Akron St. Vincent St. Mary were victors.
Wheeling Central Catholic – 13, Barnesville – 0
Akron St. Vincent St. Mary – 4, Keystone AVSM (LaGrange, OH) – 3
Friday Contests
Martins Ferry – 9, Barnesville – 1
The day prior to the Shamrock Classic at Barnesville Memorial Park, Barnesville had its 9 game winning streak snapped at home with a 9-1 revenge loss to Martins Ferry.
Barnesville – 7, Martins Ferry – 4
The Shamrock JV team defeated Martins Ferry on the road Friday night, 8-4. The victory raises their season record to 7-4. They return to action Tuesday at home against Buckeye Trail. The first pitch is at 5 p.m.
