Richard “Dick” W. Robinson

A much-loved man, Richard “Dick” W. Robinson passed away April 21, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.

Born on March 11, 1941, in Quaker City, Ohio, he moved to Cleveland after high school and then to Chardon, Ohio, in 1964 and never left.

Dick started his career as a salesman for the George Worthington Co., working for them until its early 1990s closure. He was Worthington’s top salesman for many years. He then started over with the John Allen Company, earning many awards there, too. He was an amazingly hard worker in an era of pay phones and no internet.

Anyone who met Dick would agree the world has lost a special man who was quite the character! He was never without a funny comment (“Hello World!” or “Does your father know you have that tattoo?”) or a horribly smelly prank (how many dead mice were put in unsuspecting visitors’ cars?!) He always got a laugh dancing to YMCA or Walk Like an Egyptian. He was forever in a hurry.

He loved riding his mower with a beer in his hand and another one ready to be run out by any available kid. He loved dogs and hunting with his beagles. He loved warm weather and would call Dick Goddard if the forecast was wrong. He loved to yell at drivers going too fast past his house. He loved his many friends. He loved helping everyone, sometimes making lifelong friends in the process. But he loved his wife and family most of all.

Dick leaves behind the love of his life, Kayle (nee Hayes), of almost 62 years; daughter Tracy Crawford (Jay); son, Scott (Karen); and daughter Kelly Jo. Also missing him are six grandchildren, Kirstyn (Joe) Toohey, Corey Crawford, Jack Robinson, William Robinson, Kayla Pelletier Robinson and Jacob Robinson.

Dick was an army veteran and a longtime member of the Chardon United Methodist Church.

At his request, there will be no services. His ashes will be laid to rest in his hometown of Quaker City.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Geauga County Dog Shelter, 12513 Merritt Road, Chardon, OH 44024.
