The popular warm weather eatery on Route 800 south, Fairyland, opened for the season this week sharing this photo on social media noting the business opened 75 years ago in 1951.
A similar photo provided by Helen Tickhill and published on page 161 of the local history, “Barnesville’s 200 Years: A Pictorial History”, contains the following information on the business’s founding:
“Established and operated by Harry and Lillian Tickhill, Walter and Helen Tickhill, Sam Smith and the John and Harriet Price families, the business was an immediate hit. Lillian Tickhill’s collection of ceramic trolls and other figures that surrounded the small pond adjacent to the drive-in were the inspiration for the business.”
