Major Water Break Results in Boil Order
A major water leak in a 10-inch main at the corner of West Main and South Broadway streets Sunday night has kept Barnesville Water Department employees busy overnight and into the afternoon hours Monday.
Barnesville Elementary School students were sent home shortly after classes got underway when low water pressure also impacted the school campus.
Water pressure was low south and west of the break until workers were able to locate the correct valve to close.

In the early hours of Monday, the village released the following Notice:
The Barnesville Water Department has issued a precautionary boil advisory due to emergency waterline repairs for all service connections on West Main Street, Cole Street, Washington Street, Westview Drive, Westview Court, Pultney Avenue, West Highland Avenue, Belview Street, and any other experiencing a loss in pressure.
This boil advisory will remain in effect for 48 hours once water service is restored. Water should be vigorously boiled for at least one minute prior to human consumption or dental hygiene use. Residents may also notice discoloration and should be cautious with laundry.
The Barnesville Water Department apologizes for any inconvenience that these water line repairs may create for our customers.
